I made this box for a bridal shower. The bride's wedding colors are white, black, and silver so I incorporated those colors into the bridal shower cake. The cake itself is an almond cake with buttercream filling, frosted with white chocolate ganache and covered in fondant. It turned out very nice. =)

Magnolia Wedding Cake
I made this Royal Blue Magnolia wedding cake for a November wedding. I added white jasmines to accent the deep blue magnolias and the result was a simple but elegant design. The cake itself was vanilla and chocolate marble which I filled with buttercream and covered in chocolate ganache before icing with fondant. The bride and groom loved it! =)

Tinkerbell Halloween Costume
I made this costume for my daughter out of fabrics I picked out at my local craft store. It turned out very good for being my first outfit sewing project. I'm happy with the results and my little girl was too. =)

Cherry Blossom Wedding Cake
, guI made this cherry blossom cake for an October Wedding. I made the cherry blossoms out of gum paste and combined them into a few small sprays to place among the sides of the fondant covered cake. The top tier was chocolate and vanilla marble, the middle tier was triple chocolate, and the bottom was vanilla. Each tier had raspberry buttercream filling between the layers. The result was a beautifully romantic wedding cake and I really enjoyed decorating it! =)
"The cake was absolutely amazing!
It couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you so much, Melanie!"

Edible Bouquet
I made this fruit bouquet for Mother's Day a couple of years back. I had pierced fruit through skewers and arranged them as seen in the picture. I melted some chocolate and dipped some of the strawberries into it to accent some of the fruit in the bouquet. In this case I used white chocolate and sliced almonds to cover the milk chocolate on the strawberries but I think next time I might throw in some shaved coconut. =)

Calla Lily Cake
I made this cake for Labor Day on a whim. I took several close pictures to capture the detail of the sugar flowers I made. The layers are made of Fruit Cocktail Cake which I added cinnamon ground and nutmeg to for depth and the cakes are frosted with a homemade coconut buttercream. Everyone enjoyed it. =)

Coconut Tres Leches
This tres leches is made with coconut cream (not coconut milk), evaporated milk, and condensed milk pour over a rich white cake. Just enough to cover the cake and make it very moist without leaving it soggy. Let rest over night, cover with homemade whipped cream (or one container of Cool Whip), coconut flakes and serve. Variations can include crushed pineapple on top or strawberries. This cake is the best tres leches recipe I've tasted. =)

Foam Animals
During my pregnancy, I made these with every intention to put them together as a "Noah's Ark" collage but after I had my baby girl, I haven't gone back to finish it. I made each of these out of foam. I cut the pieces myself and adhered them to each other using a hot glue gun. Once I get this project completed, I will post the finished product.
Yummy Desserts!
Best Homemade Apple Pie
I filled these delicious pies with sliced granny smith apples and baked them for a pretty lengthy period of time at a low temperature and they came out tasting just as good as they look! And yes, even the crust is made from scratch... =)
Gourmet Sugar Cookies
I made these cookies after trying some from a local restaurant. My take on this cookie came out just as good as the original I tried! The base is a soft chewy buttermilk sugar cookie with a small spread of cream cheese icing, topped with oreo crumble, two strawberry slices, and drizzled with milk chocolate and a little but of sifted powdered sugar. Now this is a cookie!
Raspberry Buttermilk Cake
This cake has quickly become one of my favorite cake recipes. It has a wonderful buttermilk flavor complimented by fresh tangy raspberries and topped with sugar for a delightful sugary crunch. Yum!

Pink & Black Wedding Invitations
These pink and black wedding invitations for my aunt's 25th Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal were inspired by an invitation she had seen on the internet. The front was similar with a different color scheme.
For her invitations, I used pink card stock called "Razzberry". I used black card stock for the pocket and base. Vellum was used for the inserts and to wrap up the design I used Fuschia colored organza ribbon.
This was the turnout:

Butterfly Wedding Cake
I made this cake for my aunt's 25th Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal. I made the flowers out of gumpaste to give them that life like petal appearance and tinted them with petal dust. The top tier is Lemon, the second is tier is Raspberry Buttermilk, and the third tier is Chocolate Marble. The coating was made with homemade marshmallow fondant versus traditional buttercream. It came out great and everyone loved it! =)

Personalized Hairbow Holder
I made this hairbow holder to condense drawer space in my daughter's room. I used foam sheets for the base and backed it with wire for support. Although, in hindsight, I think a paint stirring stick would have been easier to work with while providing more than enough support. I wrapped ribbon around the wire and hot glued it to the wire for extra support.
Once complete, I hung my daughter's bows on the stands of ribbon. If you use organza ribbon, you could use this as an earring and bow holder as well. Hang it on a wall our a door and you're good to go :)

Personalized Art Folder
Both my daughter and my nephew love to create artwork so I thought it'd be great for them to have their own art folder where they could store their beautiful artwork. I thought it'd be even better to decorate the folder's with things they loved to encourage their creativity. I folded a poster board sheet in half to create the base of the folder. I used a piece of another poster board sheet to cut out the handles and folded another piece "accordian-style" and glued them on the border of the sides so that the folder could open wide and close thin.
Then I used foam sheets to cut out shapes and create the folder's design. I find that a glue gun works best for me when attaching the foam pieces together and to the poster board, although I'm sure foam glue would have the same effect.
